We had an appointment the day before with her ENT because he was going to do a few procedures as well!
We left Drake and Daphne with my mom. We decided last minute to leave Daphne but we are so glad we did and we are so thankful for my mom to watch them. It was nice to be able to just focus on Laynie and give her all our attention.

We took her shopping and let her pick out whatever she wanted at the Disney Store...
She chose this!!! She is definitely our little princess! She also got some Mickey Mouse figurines and picked out her brother some Big Hero 6 figurines:)
Surgery is a much different experience know that Laynie is older. It is so much harder! They give her some drugs before they take her back to make her loopy but they don't seem to work on her. She fights and kicks and screams soooooooo hard while they are prying her hands off of me. It is completely heartbreaking! I can't think of many things worse to experience as a parent! Luckily they say it only takes about 10 breaths before she is asleep so by the time Trevor and I make it to the waiting room she is hopefully sleeping! Surgery lasted about 3 hours. Dr. Morales did the palate repair. He is retired now from pediatric surgery and only works once a month for cosmetic surgeries, and he did Laynie's surgery just because he is so kind to us! We are so grateful to have such an outstanding surgeon for Laynie! She had her hard palate repaired and she was supposed to have the muscle repair on her soft palate but they were unable to do it because her anatomy is so different and her mouth is so small so they just closed up her whole palate! She also had a broncoscopy to check out her airway, some granulation tissue from her trach removed, her trach upsized, and her ear tubes removed.
Trevor and I both got to go back and see her in the PACU where she goes to wake up from surgery. She was upset but happy when I held her and she fell back asleep while we rolled her up to her room!
We had a hard time keeping her comfortable the first day. She was very unhappy all day:(
She made it very clear that she did not want to be there. She tried ripping out her IV and tearing off her monitors pretty much the whole time she was awake. She has so much spunk in her:)
She was happy about the balloon we got her and wouldn't let it go!
She would fall asleep sitting up!
There were no smiles from the usually smiliest girl ever! She just wanted to go home. I think we all did!
She was doing well enough we got to leave the next day!!!
We got lots of pictures texted to us like these to make us all happy!!!!
We are so glad this surgery is over. She did much better than anticipated and she is now back to her happy self!
